Lie in The Dirt and Let the Earth Reclaim Your Soul
A digital drawing I created to enter into the Digital Media Arts Festival at UVU. It was created using Ibis Paint X on an iPad.
I created this mostly for the competition, as a redraw of my older drawing titled the same. The meaning of this drawing is intended to be a representation of death, but the happier side of it all. It was inspired by the song "lay me down" by the Oh Hellos, as well as my own philosophy about life and death. the flowers in the drawing are forget-me-nots, which symbolize death and loyalty, solidifying the message.
death is not a tragic meaning for me though, because I believe that even through death you can impact the world. We all return to the earth, and in that, we are the same.
To create this piece I started with a traditional sketch, then a digital sketch. I drew lineart for the character, a representation of myself, and then colored it. I used the Soft Pastel brush for all of it, at varying opacities. I then painted the background using the same brush.
