Avery Timberbell

This is a digital drawing of my original character Avery Timberbell, a small cat-human hybrid, I created to enter into the Digital Media Arts Festival at UVU.

The character is androgynous on purpose, and wears clothes that I have myself or would like to have. They hold a basket of flowers and stand in front of a sunset. I created Avery for a competition with my friends originally, coming up with the cutest character I could. The cat breed they are based on is a long-haired tan cat, as shown in their tail and ears. The embroidery on their pants and the flowers in their hair and basket are all intended to be roses or poppies.

I started this drawing with a traditional sketch on paper. Then I transferred it to digital and traced my drawing to create the lineart. I colored them using a simple self-made color palette and used simple shading techniques to make them feel more real. After that, I painted the background and added lighting effects.
