Catalyst Program Logos

I created logos for each program at the Davis Catalyst Center. This is a work-in-progress project, as not all of the programs are completed.

each logo was created in illustrator, primarily using shape tools and pathfinder to create interesting shapes in the simplest of ways. I created a border to put around all of the individual programs' logos to create a sense of unity.

The graphic design logo features a hand made out of anchor points holding a pen. This is symbolic of the software they use, as well as creation in general. Graphic design is the artistic program of the catalyst, and the logo had to show the technological aspects of the program as well as creativity and imagination. The hand is symbolic of creation, and the pen of the tools we use.

The business and marketing logo is a briefcase with a bar graph inset. The briefcase is there to show professionalism, the office-like nature of business. The graph is symbolic of the stock market, and the accounting that takes place.

the audio production logo has a pair of headphones with several dotted lines coming out of it. The headphones are there to represent the audible nature of the program, specifying the sense it affects. The lines are soundwaves simplified, it is there to show the technological aspect of audio production.

the cybersecurity logo is a wireframe globe with a locked pop up in the middle. The wireframe globe represents the digital world in which they work, and the lock pop-up is the security aspect of it all.

the video production logo features an old-fashioned camera inset into film. The camera is there because a lot of the program is recording, and the old video cameras are the most recognizable versions of cameras. The film is representative of the editing aspect of video production.

the medical assisting logo is a hand reaching upward, with a bandage around its wrist and a cross in its palm. The hand is representative of helping, the service that these people provide, it reaches out to help those in need. the bandage is symbolic of healing, the act of getting better after injury or illness. The cross is for the medical system in our nation, a simple rendition to show the governmental side of their profession.
